Elizabeth's first role!

Our church has been recreating the town of Bethlehem for the last 10 years or so. This year is the final year of the production and just like every year before a real baby has played the role of Jesus. This year about 10 different babies took on the role and on the final night due to, two other babies getting sick. Elizabeth had her turn to play baby Jesus. The performers were great with her and though the whole thing is set up outdoors the “cave/stable” area was toasty warm. The large group of people would come in for their turn to see the small family and to celebrate His birth. They would be told about the star by the wise men and the journey that Joseph and his wife went on to get there. After a few more minutes Joseph would ask the crowds to go on their way so the baby and Mary could get their rest. As the people would leave Elizabeth would start fussing. The production crew kept having me come back to console her. Then they finally decided to have me put on Mary’s costume. The funniest part about the whole thing was that. Elizabeth would play to the crowd. She would smile at them and make eye contacts with the little children in the front rows but as soon as they were asked to go on their way. She would begin fussing again. Turns out she seemed to like the attention of all eyes on her. J Big surprise there. She was quite a trooper that night and hung in there for the after party as well. It was a fun time to celebrate the most IMPORTANT part of Christmas holding a little representation of the humility Jesus took on, so that I may have an Eternal relationship with The God who created me!
